"Comfort" Quilt
"Comfort" quilts are quilts made from pieces of loved ones' clothing and stitched into personal, sentimental quilts. Often times it is necessary to purchase additional material to develop a color theme or make a border. Several quilt patterns and construction techniques work in developing a quilt from numerous fabric designs. Normally quilt construction is from 100% cotton. Because many clothing items are not 100% cotton, "comfort" quilts are usually dry clean only. Generally a good shaking and airing will revive a quilt considerably.
Originally a customer requested Quilt Memories to make her a "comfort" quilt. After some thought, planning and considerable stitching a split rail scrape quilt was completed. The customer shared her "comfort" quilt with others in her grief support group and those grieving survivors contacted Quilt Memories. From that point forward numerous t-shirt quilts, wall hangings, baby quilts, lap quilts and bed quilts have been stitched at the request of these customers. As many of us know as life unfolds, grief often invades our hearts and souls. During the sad times a "comfort" quilt may give a short solace by allowing a mini respite from a very long day. The stitching of a "comfort" quilt may also make the difficult task of dismantling a closet or drawer easier for you or someone you know as well as give consolation in the future. Prices for "comfort" quilts are as follows:
